My journey into breeding started as the typical person thinking I have 2 AKC German Shepherds, I can make money. Boy was I wrong. I listened to the wrong people, talked to other breeders with my same thinking. I never knew about the health issues that could be created in the puppies and passed through the generations. Nor did I know how much a good dog food was beneficial to a dog. I liked paying for cheap dog food, unfortunately I got cheap results. Dry, dull fur and low immune systems that thank God didn’t lead to worse issues. I finally started talking to some good breeders and learned about hip and elbow dysplasia, degenerative myelopathy and multi drug resistance issues and testing for them. I also started doing eye and heart testing. I also do patella, dentition, Pituitary Dwarfism, VWD1 and other tests. I am learning to do it right, you do not make much if any money, you just have to have a lot of heart, dedication and determination!
