AKC GERMAN SHEPHERDS
$2000 for pet
$2500 for breeding rights

This is a general contract with Emily and Bryan Lewis (herein known as Lewis Family Dogs), for the sale of 1 purebred AKC registered German Shepherd puppy. There is a non-refundable deposit of $500 required to hold a puppy unless we agree on a payment plan. If a payment plan is agreed upon, any and all payments made will be nonrefundable.

*Current litters will be $2000 for pet and $2500 for breeding rights.

*Deposits are non-refundable except in the event of the puppies death before pick up or a vet determined, untreatable illness, within 24 hours of pick up. All deposits and money paid will be held until after the given 24 hours for the vet check.

*All puppies will be wormed at 3, 5, and 7 weeks of age by me and first shots will be given at 6 weeks of age. We recommend not going to public dog areas when you first get your puppy. Second shot will be given at 8 weeks so your puppy will have 2 shots in their system before they leave me. I will do all age appropriate shots and worming for the puppies while they are here in my care. I STRONGLY recommend limiting your new puppy's visitation to new places until after it has had all 4 of its puppy shots. DO NOT PUT YOUR PUPPY OR ALLOW YOUR PUPPY TO TOUCH A VET OFFICE FLOOR BEFORE IT HAS HAD ALL 4 PUPPY SHOTS!

*All puppies will be evaluated at 7 weeks of age. If it is determined that the puppy is healthy and eating and drinking properly, they may leave here at 8 weeks of age as scheduled. NO PUPPY WILL LEAVE OUR CARE IF NOT EATING AND DRINKING PROPERLY.

*Any reserved puppy must be fully paid for and picked up by 8 weeks of age unless otherwise agreed to and signed in writing by both parties or ANY and ALL money paid towards said puppy WILL become nonrefundable and the puppy will become available to the next interested person for the full purchase price.

*Lewis Family Dogs agree to sell healthy puppies with current and up to date records, AKC puppy registration, receipt for payment, and this signed contract.

*The buyer has 24 hours, unless otherwise agreed to in writing and signed by both parties, to take said puppy to the vet of their choice for a wellness check up. If the puppy is found to be unhealthy, We will take to another vet for a second opinion, if 2nd opinion from an outside vet is the same, the buyer may return the puppy for a full refund of the purchase price plus vet costs OR the buyer may decide to keep the puppy and we will pay any and all reasonable vet bills, to get the puppy healthy, up to the purchase price of the puppy. If the medical care goes beyond the purchase price, the buyer has the option to continue medical treatment at their own cost or return the puppy to us, with no refund, as all money went to vet bills, and be put first in line for a puppy from the next available litter.

*ALL HEALTH GUARANTEES WILL BE VOIDED IF SPAYED / NEUTERED BEFORE 2 YEARS OLD!!
WE DO OUR BEST TO BREED CORRECT HEALTHY PUPPIES. GENETIC TESTING DOES NOT GUARANTEE THERE WILL BE NO ISSUES. ENVIRONMENT PLAYS A MAJOR PART IN YOUR PUPPIES HEALTH AND GROWTH AS FAR AS JOINTS.

*We GENETICALLY guarantee hips for 26 months on all our puppies. If your puppy is found to have a genetic issue with its hips, you can choose to return it to us for another puppy from the next litter. If you choose, you may keep your puppy for the duration of its life and when it passes away you can then choose another puppy from one of our litters if we are still breeding. We understand that by 2 years of age, you will have an attachment to your pet and it cannot just be "returned" to us. NOTE... early spay/neuter and excessive exercise as a puppy, running on hard surfaces, excessive jumping and many other things can be very stressful on a growing puppies joints. This is not genetic. Please do your research on appropriate exercise for your German Shepherd puppy. Genetic hip issues TYPICALLY affect both hips where as injuries typically affect 1 side.

*Here at Lewis Family Dogs, we understand life throws you curves sometimes. We have a lifetime return policy. The buyer agrees that if for any reason he/she can no longer keep or care for said puppy or find it another GREAT home (as we know sometimes family and/or friends will give your baby a great home for you) it will be returned to us. We will take any of our puppies back at any time or any age and for any health issue that may arise. If this happens, there will be no refund of any kind. Any rehoming or placements must be done with Lewis Family Dogs involved. We want to keep up with our babies.

*We are implementing a new policy here at Lewis Family Dogs. Due to the number of puppies that do not get registered, the number of irresponsible breeders and AKC's rules and regulations about breeders registering their litters, we will send it off for you. Basic registration is $30 and is included in the purchase price of your puppy, That gives you up to 36 spaces for its registered name. This includes spaces between words and any hyphens in name. For an additional $10 you can go up to 50 characters. It is also an extra $10 to put a co-owner. If you want your spouse added to registration, it will have to be listed as a co-owner.

*****ALL PUPPIES WILL BE MICROCHIPPED BEFORE LEAVING OUR HOME*****

REPEATED JUST TO MAKE SURE ALL IS UNDERSTOOD

*ALL HEALTH GUARANTEES WILL BE VOIDED IF SPAYED / NEUTERED BEFORE 2 YEARS OLD!
ADDED NOTE FOR REGISTRATION..... ALL REGISTERED NAMES MUST INCLUDE LEWIS LFD EITHER IN THE BEGINNING OR THE END OF THE NAME. example.... LEWIS LFD wonderful German shepherd or wonderful German shepherd of LEWIS LFD. You can also use "V", via, vom or von in place of "of". We understand you may not have a registered name picked out at the time of pick up, and the call name does not have to be part of the registered name. If you do not have a registered name for your baby we will make up a registered name for the dog for you and send it in. We are required by AKC to make sure all of our puppies get registered.

CO OWNED DOGS WILL HAVE A SIMILAR BUT SEPARATE CONTRACT.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS WITH THIS CONTRACT PLEASE FEEL FREE TO MESSAGE US!

CO OWN TERMS

Co owns are free up front.

If for any reason the dog fails hips or elbows, dog can be placed or kept as a pet. Grade 1 elbows can be discussed but failing hips or worse elbows cannot be bred.

For a male, under co own, we as breeder get lifetime stud as we need at no charge as there was no purchase price. If we have an outside female to breed there is no stud fee due co owner.
Co owner can collect boarding fee for any female staying on co owner property.
Co owner may stud dog to other AKC, passing health tested, German Shepherds and collect stud fee of choosing from dam owner. Female must have clear brucellosis test done within a week of the breeding.
We do not approve or condone crossing breeds.
If you choose to buy out the co own contract, at any time, the buy out price is $2500. Buy out means you purchased the dog to do as you choose and will have full AKC rights.
Breeder will help in any way possible. Breeder is here for life of dog. If for any reason it doesn't work out, dog can be returned to breeder. Dog cannot be rehomed or sold elsewhere unless co owner buys out contract.
